Welcome Exhibitors
Why Participate at The International Caribbean Art Fair
The International Caribbean Art Fair (ICAFair), for the past two years in New York, has been bringing together galleries and artists in the only venue that exclusively represents artists of Caribbean heritage. To keep things fresh and expand our reach, the fair will now be in a New Venue, in a New City, and on New Dates. For this third annual fair, we are changing the format to an artists-represented show of Contemporary Caribbean Fine Art.
This is your opportunity to be part of this great movement in Caribbean Art and join a growing number of professional artists representing a proud Caribbean heritage.
Location and Dates
Walter E. Washington Convention Center
801 Mount Vernon Place NW
Washington, DC 20001
September 11 - 13, 2009
Galleries and Artists
We are inviting all galleries and artists to submit their exhibitor applications for consideration. The fair will be limited to no more than 50 contemporary artists with smaller booth configurations (4 ft. x 12 ft. with one spot light of 250 Watts; additional lights can be purchased at costs) at the much reduced price of $650 (payment can be made via any major credit card, by US Checks, or wire transfer). Only one artist per booth! We want to showcase the best in Contemporary Caribbean Fine Art, and facilitate wider participation of non-represented Caribbean islands.
Galleries are welcome to submit their contemporary fine artists for consideration as Exhibitors; ICAFair will mention that the artist is "represented by" your gallery.
Thus far, nearly half of the spaces have already been filled. Don't delay! Submit your application with full payment now. We will be accepting applications until all booths are sold; however, your application is not a guarantee of participation. The selection of artists will be competitive. If your application is not accepted, your payment will be refunded to you.
More Events and Installations
To make the fair more interactive and engaging for the audience, several events are being planned by exhibiting artists. For example, "Echo Alley" stations will be set-up to create art out of used or found objects; educational demonstrations will be scheduled for kids and adults to experience artmaking with Caribbean artists; and installations will be mounted to engage and challenge the audience.
Expand Your Market
The ICAFair 2009 DC show provides excellent opportunities to attract new clientele and to expand your market. Exhibitors selected to participate in ICAFair 2008 New York will receive priority consideration for the 2009 show.
Caribbean Art Conference
For the NY08 show, ICAFair introduced an educational component that has developed into a larger conference. The two-day Caribbean Art Conference will be held at the same time as the fair in a separate wing of the convention center. The educational programs will help expand the public’s knowledge of Caribbean Art and understanding of the value to be gained by art collectors. Education plays a key role to develop a stronger market for Caribbean Art, to grow a highly educated collector base, and to build a network of art professionals.
